Smart Contract + Backend Engineer · Mettalex (Fetch.ai)

Aug 2023 – Present · Remote

  • Designed and built multiple MCP servers to add Web3 capabilities to ASI, enabling actions like token swaps, liquidity management, transfers, etc directly from the ASI chat interface without exposing private keys.
  • Built and deployed an agent-based cross-chain bridge from scratch, moving $1.8M worth of MTLX tokens from BSC to Ethereum after the AnySwap bridge shutdown.
  • Developed 15+ smart contracts across EVM (Solidity) and Cosmos (Rust) chains for an agent-based P2P orderbook DEX handling escrow, settlement, and trade matching.
  • Built Node.js and Python backends with WebSocket integration for real-time orderbook updates, coordinating agent logic and syncing on-chain/off-chain state.
  • Created custom blockchain indexers for EVM and Cosmos chains to track events and maintain cross-chain state consistency for agents and live trading graphs.
  • Stress-tested the system with up to 5,000 concurrent agents to find bottlenecks and guide architecture improvements.

  • Built and deployed Rust-based NFT smart contracts on NEAR Protocol compatible with major marketplaces (Paras, Mintbase, Few-and-Far), including royalties and custom constraints.
  • Integrated Stripe payments for fiat-to-NFT purchases and launched a 1,000 NFT mainnet collection.
  • Implemented four wallet login flows to streamline onboarding and secure transactions.
  • Developed a TypeScript/Node.js backend with MongoDB, CI/CD pipelines, and Jest tests for reliability.
